Hey, I’m a great fan of Orchestre Super Mazembe (or Orchestra Super Mazembe, as they are also called). Or actually I’m a great fan of what seems to be their first studio album from 1980, entitled Mazembe. The only problem is that I have never heard the album. I’ve only heard the two tracks that are included in the Giants of East Africa compilation (the first two tracks on it). The rest of the compilation (ie. their later work) I find less interesting. Does anybody have an idea, where to get the debut album?

Yes, I second that emotion! Thats a classic track that took me back to when I first heard it in the 80s too

Shauri yako took me waaay back to the beginings of my love of African music… on KUSF in San Francisco in the early ’80s- Somewhere I have a cassette tape with that song on it….
